John's birthday dinner on Friday night at El Torito and playing games at Dave and Buster's afterwards...it's sad when a girl (me) beats a guy by double the points at the basketball game. I won't embarass him any further by mentioning any names
SCUBA DIVING
We did our beach dive in Redondo Beach on Saturday. The surf was so high that it made the experience quite miserable for me. I guess I am a little spoiled since my first dive was in Thailand. There I was diving in a bikini and visibility was so great. Here it's still a little chilly with a 7mm wetsuit plus with all the surge visibility was less than 5 feet. I might be willing to do another beach dive as long as there is no surf and I just go with my regulator in my mouth.
On the other hand, our boat dive on the Magician to Catalina Island the next day was a lot more fun. We were able to do 3 dives, 2 at Ripper's Cove and one at Eel Cove. Saw a lot of Garibaldi fish. I felt a lot more comfortable in the water and was not as panicky as I was before. The only problem was I was weighted too heavily and had a hard time manuevering and controlling my buoyancy. Also had a difficult time equalizing. My right ear still feels a little muffled. I now officially have my open water certification though, yay! Can't wait to start planning diving vacations...definitely want to visit Belize, Cozymel, Australia, Red Sea, Hawaii...just to name a few places. Eventually I want to get my advance certification too but probably going to wait until I can afford to get all of my own gear. I didn't realize how tiring diving can be...totally knocked out for a few hours afterwards and I hardly ever take naps.
Finally went to go see Pirates of the Caribbean 2. I thought the movie was pretty entertaining...funny with a lot of action. Kind of ends on a cliffhanger though so I can't wait to watch the third one.

hmmm... didn't see florida as one of your dive destinations... we have a lot better conditions for a beach dive here... happy bubbling =)
I would so not like to get my cert in those conditions. Diving out here in the tropics... much nicer. I think I'd actually be scared with 5 feet visibility. We're used to 100+ out here.
congrats on getting your open water certification.
i heard that california waters are very rough, but if you can do california, then its a breeze doing anywhere else in the world.
wow. congrats on getting yr cert! sounds like a lot of fun. scary. but still fun.
haha, you used same amount of weight as me! o_O yeesh!
i actually didn't like pirates 2. it was a big disappointment for me....
i still have yet to see Catalina Island
RYC: YUPPERS WE WILL BE THERE... SEE YOU!!... finally! =)
Oh finally! You got certified! I suggest you get advance certification when you're in some tropical paradise. It'll only take 2 days and totally better than doing it here. Damon and his friends are going on a diving trip to Cozumel in Oct, so I'll be tagging along. Can't wait. I haven't dove since the Red Sea.
there are such things called diving vacations? Belize and Hawaii sounds great...almost to dive for...*bah dump bump*
ryc: like all good things, it hurts just the right amount.

I love beating guys at car racing games at the arcade. =)
We all brought 3 pairs of shoes for the 3 outfit changes we had for that day. =P
ryc: eh, it doesn't mean i'll stop eating fast food completely, but rather occasionally.
noticed you'll be going to Albert's bbq/karaoke. maybe i'll finally meet u in person!
your life is always full of fun and adventure. it never fails.
do you have any suggestions for a winter trip?
no desert adventures this time? haha redondo sucks, but it's cleaner than santa monica. i don't recommend diving off of huntington pier too... dana point was pretty clean, but there are lots of rocks when ya come to shore (><). i duno wut u mean by diving, but like a bunch of monkey old buddies and i, we more like jumped off the pier(s), well just cuz, it seemed fun at the moment... have a nice week (^^)V
I had no idea you were this active
Hard imaging such an outdoorswoman purchasing designer jeans. Quite versatile.
fond memories of redondo beach. great seafood.
i think pirates 2 &3 will suffer from kill bill syndrome.
HEY! I was certified on the Magician too!!! Congrats! Are you planning on getting your Advanced cert or rescue diver cert? Even though the water's freezing in Cali, there's nothing like swimming with sea lions and exploring kelp forests!
