Stairs…been doing a
lot of the stairs at Sand Dune Park. It’s 200 steps and quite a
great workout for your calves and butt. The first time we did the stairs
8 times up and down (that’s 3200 steps). Definitely felt the
soreness so the next time we didn’t do as many. I think I need to
vary my exercise routine a little more. Don’t want my calves and
thighs to be too muscular…just toned.Moonlight Kayaking…went
kayaking in Long Beach. It was very nice and
peaceful being out on the water and watching the sunset. We did a floating
potluck and I brought wine and cheese. Others brought oysters, sushi, sandwiches,
cookies…all very tasty. We paddled back in the dark with only the
light of the moon and stars and our headlamps.Networking Mixer…attended
an L7 event at Falcon in West Hollywood. I
had some appetizers (crab cake, calamari, and grilled cheese sandwiches) with a
couple of cosmo martinis. Although I didn’t plan it that way, I
ended up at a table with 5 guys =) After college, I mostly had only guy
friends but in the last couple of years I’ve met more and more cool girls
to hang out with and would now say I have an equal number of guy and girl
friends. But apparently all my girl friends were busy that night.Korean BBQ…ate at Chosun Galbee
in Ktown. The restaurant is pretty nice and fairly large. It’s a
little bit pricier and the portions aren’t as large but the quality of
the meat is pretty good. We got the chosun galbee and the Yookegang
and we were full! They give you a lot of pan chan.Hermosa Beach…I
definitely needed a drink after work Friday night but I think I may have taken it too
far. We started off at the Lighthouse Cafe where I quickly gulped down four
shots of Jaegar. Then headed over to Blue 32 where I continued with more
shots to the point of where I started losing track. Then continued with more drinks at my friend’s place. I think I need to give my liver a break.Tofu…went to the Tofu Festival in Little Tokyo. It’s $5 for admission but you can download a $2 coupon from their website. All they have are booths that sell food and merchandise. You have to buy $1 tickets and each food item was 1-5 tickets. I was a little disappointed because the quality of the food wasn’t that great (half the food didn’t even have tofu!) and the portions were really small so it became quite expensive. Overall, I had tofu sushi, tofu pizza, lobster balls, tofu dessert, green tea boba, tofu kabob, and tofu fruit dessert.
Sushi…satisfied my craving at Sushi Gen. There was an extremely long wait for a table but that’s usually a sign that the food is good. We ordered the clam appetizer which was tasty but the clams were pretty small. We shared the chicken teriyaki dinner which came with a bowl of tuna and red snapper sashimi. The tuna was extremely fresh! Also ordered the toro (so good!), yellowtail belly, salmon, unagi, and surf clam. The quality is great but I wouldn’t say that it’s my favorite place. Also the rolls are really small.
The theme is pink…after dinner we arrived at the Mountain Bar in Chinatown for a special event…$4 tequila shots if you were dressed in pink. I really liked the dim intimate interior. No worries about cover or a line. The music was great! And when it gets too hot on the dance floor you can just chill outside.
Movie…watched The Simpsons. It was like a long 2 hour episode but if you like the show then you’ll definitely like the movie. My humor leans more towards sarcastic and witty so I thought it was just hilarious. I can’t wait for the sequel, hehe.
