  • Stairs…been doing a
lot of the stairs at Sand Dune Park.  It’s 200 steps and quite a
great workout for your calves and butt.  The first time we did the stairs
8 times up and down (that’s 3200 steps).  Definitely felt the
soreness so the next time we didn’t do as many.  I think I need to
vary my exercise routine a little more.  Don’t want my calves and
thighs to be too muscular…just toned.

    Moonlight Kayaking…went
    kayaking in
Long Beach.  It was very nice and
peaceful being out on the water and watching the sunset.  We did a floating
potluck and I brought wine and cheese.  Others brought oysters, sushi, sandwiches,
cookies…all very tasty.  We paddled back in the dark with only the
light of the moon and stars and our headlamps.

    Networking Mixer…attended
an L7 event at Falcon in
    West Hollywood.  I
had some appetizers (crab cake, calamari, and grilled cheese sandwiches) with a
couple of cosmo martinis.  Although I didn’t plan it that way, I
ended up at a table with 5 guys =)  After college, I mostly had only guy
friends but in the last couple of years I’ve met more and more cool girls
to hang out with and would now say I have an equal number of guy and girl
friends.  But apparently all my girl friends were busy that night.

    Korean BBQ...ate at Chosun Galbee
in Ktown.  The restaurant is pretty nice and fairly large.  It's a
little bit pricier and the portions aren't as large but the quality of
the meat is pretty good.  We got the chosun galbee and the Yookegang
and we were full!  They give you a lot of pan chan.

    Hermosa Beach…I
definitely needed a drink after work Friday night but I think I may have taken it too
far.  We started off at the Lighthouse Cafe where I quickly gulped down four
shots of Jaegar.  Then headed over to Blue 32 where I continued with more
shots to the point of where I started losing track. Then continued with more drinks at my friend's place.   I think I need to give my liver a break.

Tofu...went to the Tofu Festival in Little Tokyo.  It's $5 for admission but you can download a $2 coupon from their website.  All they have are booths that sell food and merchandise.  You have to buy $1 tickets and each food item was 1-5 tickets.  I was a little disappointed because the quality of the food wasn't that great (half the food didn't even have tofu!) and the portions were really small so it became quite expensive.   Overall, I had tofu sushi, tofu pizza, lobster balls, tofu dessert, green tea boba, tofu kabob, and tofu fruit dessert.

Sushi...satisfied my craving at Sushi Gen.  There was an extremely long wait for a table but that's usually a sign that the food is good.  We ordered the clam appetizer which was tasty but the clams were pretty small.  We shared the chicken teriyaki dinner which came with a bowl of tuna and red snapper sashimi.  The tuna was extremely fresh!  Also ordered the toro (so good!), yellowtail belly, salmon, unagi, and surf clam.  The quality is great but I wouldn't say that it's my favorite place.  Also the rolls are really small.

The theme is pink...after dinner we arrived at the Mountain Bar in Chinatown for a special event...$4 tequila shots if you were dressed in pink.  I really liked the dim intimate interior.  No worries about cover or a line.  The music was great!  And when it gets too hot on the dance floor you can just chill outside.

Movie...watched The Simpsons.  It was like a long 2 hour episode but if you like the show then you'll definitely like the movie.  My humor leans more towards sarcastic and witty so I thought it was just hilarious.  I can't wait for the sequel, hehe.

  • Happy Hour and a Movie...went to Pig N' Whistle in Hollywood and had the appetizer sampler and a liter of beer.  They literally serve it to you with your own private tap, lolz.  Afterwards went to go watch Bourne Ultimatum at the Arclight.  I actually don't like sitting inside the dome...assigned seating sucks when you end up stuck behind someone tall, you can't move to another seat.  I read all the books by Robert Ludlum so I was really excited to see it.  Really great action...highly recommend going to watch it.

Running...continuing with the exercise trend but since we got a late start ended up going to Polliwog Park in Redondo Beach.  They have a cute little lake with lots of ducks and a playground where we pretended to be kids again going on the slides and playing on the swings

    Weekday Clubbing
...less crowded and crazy than on the weekends.  Went to Area (used to be Prey) in West Hollywood.  The only reason I went was for the open bar.  They were promoting Hard Water vodka...not very good but hey it was free.  I noticed that girls are way more dressed up now when they go out...I felt really under dressed in just jeans and a tank top.

Galleries...went to the Downtown Art Walk which is held every second Thursday of the month.  The galleries have free admission from 12-9pm and there is a shuttle that takes you around. Our first stop was at Regent Gallery where they had nice landscapes and photos.  Next we walked over to Pharmaka where they were serving free wine. The art here was a little more contemporary but with hefty price tags in the thousands.  Across the street was Bert Green Fine Art where they had the Trace Evidence exhibit by Osseus Labyrint.  Very interesting nude pieces.  After that we went to Red Dot Gallery which also serves hot dogs along with being able to view pieces of art containing rat skulls and a drawing on the hood of a classic car.  Last on our list of places to visit was Continental Gallery where they had an opening party consisting of free food and booze.  They had a delicious ravioli and sandwiches from Metropole Cafe and beef wrapped in rice paper rolls from E3rd.  I realized that wine makes me very sleepy

Friday...decided to check out Boulevard 3 in Hollywood.  They have a gorgeous outdoor lounge.  Arguably one of the most beautiful places in LA.  They had tarot card readers, voodoo doll makers and a guy dancing on stilts.  I thought it would be a more chill place but later on the dance floor inside got pretty crowded.

Mountain Biking...I'm really getting some use out of my bike yay.  We did the Westridge trail again but this time we did a loop and came down Sullivan Canyon.  I love downhill single track...I was perhaps a little too excited since I ended up crashing twice...I now have some new sexy scars to show off, haha.

Brunch...went to Prizzi's Piazza in Los Feliz.  I love sitting outdoors and listening in on other people's conversations...er I mean people watching, lolz.  I tried a frittata which is an Italian omelette that is cooked on a skillet and then cooked in an oven and served open instead of folded.  Their french toast also tastes different since they use fresh brioche bread.

Game Night...we had a little potluck dinner and played games at a friend's place.  It's so much cheaper to drink at a house party, lolz.  Practiced my new bartender skills making everyone B-52 shots.  We played rummy dummy, Cranium, and Taboo.  It was guys versus girls with the end result being a tie.

Lazy Sunday...slept in and missed a planned bike ride.  I was so tired since I had been going out all week.  Didn't do anything all day except starting to read the Harry Potter book and going to a firestation for dinner.  That was cool since it was my first time inside a firestation.  The one we went to was huge!  They even had their own private home entertainment theatre with two rows of reclining leather chairs and a large flat screen.  I tried on the heavy jacket and oxygen tank while carrying one of the hoses...man that stuff is heavy!  I can see why most of the firemen are in such great shape.  Too bad I didn't get a chance to slide down the pole, hehe.  Had a late night snack at Skooby's...I really need to learn how to make that sauce for the fries.  Was so lazy...ended up not going out to watch the meteor shower either

  • X-Games preparty...at a new club called Opera in Hollywood.
The decor inside is really nice but kind of a small venue...their outdoor patio
is pretty cool.  A lot of celebrities in attendance that night
but I didn't really notice, namely Avril Lavigne, Owen Wilson, Travis Barker, Ron
Jeremy (again).  I'm pretty bad about recognizing famous people unless
someone points them out to me.

Running...I've been better at keeping up the exercise
routine.  Went to Sand Dune Park in Manhattan Beach...it's
pretty much a 100ft sandy hill.  Did it 3 times and it was definitely a
good workout for your calves and butt.
It gets surprisingly pretty crowded in the evenings after work.

    Girls Happy Hour…went to Nick
    & Stef’s
    in downtown LA.  Appetizers
and drinks are discounted until 7:30pm.  Their braised short rib quesadillas were
    yummy.  Loved their pineapple martinis
too.  Afterwards we went to the Edison
for some more drinks.  It’s pretty huge so
it never really felt packed and the historic décor is pretty neat.  Definitely more of a chill scene than Hollywood.  Since it was still early, decided to go check
out Bar 107 too but I think it was a little too divey for how we were dressed
so we didn’t stay too long.  I guess I
must be getting old because I was able to get into 3 bars without having my
ID.  I’d like to think it was my skills
at flirting but I’m pretty sure my white hairs gave me away

OC Fair…decided to go for all the
fried foods.  Luckily we got free tickets
and VIP parking.  We tried the deep fried
coke (yes that’s correct…it’s dough that’s been soaked in coke and then deep
fried).  It tasted a little too sweet and
rich for me.  Shared the jumbo ½ pound
hot dog.  Walked around for a little bit
and left.  Afterwards we headed over to
Fury’s in Newport Beach for some
appetizers and clubbing.  It’s a cool
place but definitely consisted of the OC crowd that’s a little too money/status
conscious for my taste.  Music was good
but the speakers were way too loud and left my ears ringing.

    Mountain Biking…went to the
Westridge trailhead in the Santa Monica
    mountains.  It’s 7.4 miles (1700 ft
elevation gain) roundtrip to the top which is the Nike missile station with
great views.  It’s mainly fire road so
good for beginners but there are some single track stuff on the side trails
    that are pretty challenging.

    BBQ…grubbed on some yummy food…Kalbi,
    jalapenos, shrimp, rice, hummus, vegetables.
It was fun playing games like Cranium and Fact or Crap.  Maybe it’s another sign that I’m getting
older but I much prefer game nights to going out.

  • Whatever happens in Vegas...

PURE...Got into Vegas about midnight and headed straight for Pure @ Caesar's Palace.  The dance floor was so packed you could barely move let alone dance and there were so many rude people just pushing and bumping into us.  I remember going there last year and it was a lot more fun because we hung out with this group of guys that had VIP so we weren't being jostled all night.  Jaime Pressly had her birthday in the Pussycat Dolls lounge.

Empire Ballroom...After Pure we headed over here for afterhours.  They have two rooms...the main one where they play techno and a smaller room where they play hip hop.  The hip hop room was so ghetto, lolz.  They had a nice smoking patio though where they played house.  Got back to our room at 6AM.

Brunch and Pool...ate at Cafe Bellagio.  The portions were pretty big and the omelette I ordered was really good.  Afterwards we headed over to the pool at Treasure Island.  I have never seen so many people in the pool before.  It was so hot and the water was just lukewarm so it hardly even cooled us down.

KA...got tickets to the earlier show.  I was pretty disappointed...of the three Cirque du Soleil shows I've seen, the other ones being Mystere and Zumanity, I liked Ka the least.  The story line is pretty slow...I was really tired and actually dozed off for a little bit. There wasn't as many acrobatic stunts either.  They had a couple interesting parts but overall I would recommend watching the other shows first.

TAO...this is still one of my favorite clubs in Vegas.  It's huge and beautiful inside plus it's all air conditioned.  We saw Josh Duhamel...he's so hot!  Too bad we didn't get a chance to check out Tao Beach.

Tryst...the line to get in was
insane.  Luckily being girls we bypassed all that.  The club wasn't as
big as I thought but the huge waterfall they have is pretty cool.  Our
feet were hurting so bad from our uncomfortable heels but luckily we
talked to some Australians who let us sit at their table.  They were on
vacation for two months...I was so envious of them traveling for so
    long.

Drais...headed here for my favorite afterhours club in Vegas.  If I had to pay cover and wait a long time in line, I don't think I would go clubbing that much...I actually feel bad for guys.  A couple jaegar bombs and I was pretty happily buzzed.  Got back to the room at 8AM.

It sucked to have to check out by noon.  We had lunch at Harrah's Cafe and then I had some oyster shooters at the Oyster Bar that were so good.  I liked how they flavored them differently.  Left Vegas around 3pm and didn't get back to LA until 11pm...ugh.

Pics from the BPM Party at Avalon a few weeks ago.  The funny thing is I don't remember taking any of these pics and I have no idea who the random guy in the pics is...lolz.

  • Coffee...I remember when the only time I would really
drink coffee was when meeting up with a friend to talk.  However, we just
got a new coffee machine at work and I've been finding myself drinking a cup
almost every day!  It makes mochas, cappuccinos, lattes, etc...it's all
really good and best part is it's free!

Jersey Boys...went to go watch this at the
    Ahmanson Theatre
Originally we were gonna get the rush/hot tickets but apparently you have to
get there really early to get them because they sell out fast.  We ended
up getting nosebleed seats for $20 but it was still a lot of fun!  I
didn't realize that I knew so many of the songs by Frankie Valli and the Four
Seasons.  Definitely worth going to see.  Had a late dinner at Sanamluang in Thai
    town afterwards.

Working Out...I'm going to make more of an effort to exercise during the
week now.  Started by jogging about 3 miles yesterday in Manhattan
Beach.  It felt really good.  Gonna continue
it today and go biking in Santa Monica.
Maybe check out the free Twilight
    concerts
there.  I really want to start waking up early and working
out in the mornings to get more energy.  I'm waiting until September for
the 24 Hour Fitness deal before getting a gym membership but hopefully when I
do, I'll start swimming.  I want to prepare for doing a triathlon sometime
    next year.

Vegas...looking forward to going this weekend!  Haven't been back
    to Sin City
for over a year.  Hopefully do a little gambling, lounge by the pool, shop,
eat at a buffet, maybe watch a show, go clubbing, and of course hang out with
    friends.

Inspiration...I've been in something of a funk for oh about a year
now...just feeling confused about what I really wanted in terms of career and
    relationships. I was depressed because I wasn’t where I thought I should
be in life.  I’m beginning to realize
that instead of feeling down about the things I don’t have, I should be happy
about the things I do have.  Happiness is
just a state of mind.  I want to be a
better person and I want to surround myself with those who inspire me to do so.  And hopefully I’ll also encourage and motivate
    them as well.

  • BPM party...Thursday night at Avalon.  Saw Ron Jeremy and Paris Hilton...she doesn't look as pretty in real life.  Girl Talk was actually really good.  Jaegar has become my shot of choice now, lolz.

Die Hard...saw it Friday night at the Grove.  The action is pretty consistent although the scene with the jet is a little over the top.  Bruce Willis still looks great for his age and remains king of the one liners. I mixed my first real drink for someone since passing my class and getting my bartending certificate.  I made a hazelnut coffee martini (pretty good but strong) and a screaming orgasm.

OC Clubbing...decided to try something different and did a girls night out at Club Vegas in Newport Beach.  The music wasn't that great and now I know why I prefer going out in Hollywood.  Still had fun hanging out with the girls.

Surfing...this was my third time going.  Went to El Porto in Manhattan
Beach which is a great place to learn.  Lucikly I had two great
instructors that helped push/pull me past the break, lolz.  I was
exhausted and I barely had to paddle.  I actually caught a wave and
stood up on the board for a long ride.  It's fun but not sure if it's
really worth all the work.  Still deciding if it's worth it to buy my
    own board.

American Idol concert...had dinner first at Mr. Stox in Anaheim.  A really nice restaurant and the seafood linguine I had was very good.  Then headed over to the Honda Center for the show.  I wasn't expecting much but it was actually a lot of fun.  Blake's beatboxing is so good...he's really talented.  And even though his singing voice isn't as good as Jordan's I still think he should have won.  I thought Sanjaya should have been voted off earlier on the show...but I'll admit he is at least entertaining to watch.

  • Barhopping, Beach, MOCA, Harry Potter and the Bowl

Barhopping...went for drinks at Good Luck Bar in Los Feliz...the drinks here seemed stronger than usual because I already felt the first drink...maybe because I told the bartender that I was taking bartending classes so he hooked it up, lolz.  Afterwards we headed over to Bar Lubitsch in West Hollywood.  Really fun place and crowd.  I like it dirty...and uh yes I'm talking about my martinis and dancing Sobered up at Astroburger...their quesadilla was really good and soaked up all the alcohol consumed earlier in the night.

Beach...met up with some friends in Manhattan Beach for some volleyball.  It was good seeing some friends I hadn't seen in forever and meeting a couple new people.  I really need to work on my tan as well as get a surf board.  I really want to learn to surf better this summer.

MOCA...had dinner at Midori Sushi in Sherman Oaks for all you can eat sushi.  The sushi was pretty decent for all you can eat.  Don't fill up too much on the rolls though...the chefs even gave us a "special" roll...but I'm sure it was so we wouldn't order as much.  The service wasn't too slow but then we had an early dinner.  You are limited for certain items like the uni and the roe...the first order came out ok but the second order you could definitely taste a decline in quality...so the trick is to order everything at once, lolz.  Their sake sampler was really good!  Afterwards we headed over for Night Vision at the Museum of Contemporary Art.  During the summer on Saturdays, they're open until midnight and they have live music, movie screenings, artmaking, tours, and a bar.  Some of the exhibits were a little too abstract for me but they made for interesting conversation nonetheless.  The last stop was at Redwood...a pirate themed bar.

Harry Potter...went to see it at Graumann's Chinese theatre in Hollywood.  I thought it was a little slow and there wasn't much action until the end but still worth going to see.  It's not the best of the ones that have come out so far but it is the darkest...goes a lot more into character development which I'm sure is better in the book than in movie format.  I'm behind on my reading...need to read a couple more books before I get the newest book coming out soon.

Hollywood Bowl...wine and a picnic before the show.  Groove Armada was great...it was fun to actually get up and dance.  Too bad they didn't play longer.  Don't remember much of the second group Cafe Tecuba.  It was great running randomly into a friend I hadn't seen for a long time.

  • Fourth of July week

All You Can Eat Korean BBQ…went to Mu Dung San in Ktown.  Pretty good for only $16 a person but the service could’ve been better.  I think I could’ve eaten more but it took forever for them to get us more meat.  I don’t know if it’s a good thing or not that I can eat as much if not more than the guys.

Orange Kamp…we stayed at Camp Nawakwa in Big Bear over the weekend. The cabins were really nice and they even had a pool.  It was so hot and Igot a little sunburned.  The food was really good and I met a whole bunchof really cool people.  There was a talent show that was so hilarious…had me cracking up the whole time.  I brought my camera and didn’t take any pictures…boo.

Dodger’s Game…got free tickets from work.  All of my friends were rooting for the Braves but the Dodger’s win it, yay!  I got my dodger dog and beer…that’s all it takes to make me happy.

Clubbing…went to Ritual (used to be White Lotus).  Thanks Q for getting us in so quickly.  Jaegar shots get me so f*cked up that I can actually be a cheapdate.  Sobered up at the place next to Hodori's.

Fourth of July…rode our bicycles from Redondo Beach to Hermosa.  I couldn’t believe how crowded it was.  Ran into an old friend and ended up at a random house party.  Opting for something a little more chill we later went to another friend’s bbq for some food and fireworks.

Transformers...I loved the movie.  Yes they could have done a better job on the script but the comic relief made it entertaining and the special effects were amazing.  I wish they had played the theme song and that they had shown more autobots but I guess that's what the sequel is for.

House Parties...went to two different parties on Friday and Saturday night.  One in Marina del Rey and one in the Valley (omg I can't believe how hot it gets there...thank god there was a pool).  I definitely like the more intimate feel of a party over going clubbing.  Plus it's nice not to have to pay for drinks, hehe.  It was a little strange at first knowing only one or two people out of the whole party but after a few drinks everyone is pretty friendly.

Korean Sushi...went to Furusato on Wilshire.  I like how they give you pan chan with your sushi...definitely fills you up.  They have a lot of good sashimi/sushi combination platters for a decent price since they give you so much you can share one.

Kwik-E-Mart...they converted a few 7-11's as a promotional marketing theme for the new Simpson's movie (there are only 11 in the world and for only a few weeks...we went to the one in Burbank).  There was about an hour long line just to get in.  Inside you can take pictures with plastic displays of the characters.  You can also purchase Buzz Cola, Krusty-O's cereal, Radioactive Man comics, Squishees, and bobble h eads of different characters.  It's so popular though that they run out of a lot of things.

Sunday Brunch....ate at Eat Well in West Hollywood.  The portions are pretty large and it was nice to sit outside in their patio.  They serve southern style grits which were really good.  Fun place to people watch.  Afterwards we went shopping on Melrose.  Bought a couple cute dresses and tops.  Cooled down with some Pinkberry.  It's funny how the yogurt craze is getting out of hand...there were at least 4 copy cat yogurt places within just a few blocks.

Volunteering...went to a meeting at Chop Suey Cafe in downtown LA for Project by Project.  I'll be volunteering for their annual Wine & Food Benefit on July 21st.  They have some of the best restaurants and wineries in LA that will be offering tastings.  Tickets right now are $150...a little pricey but I went last year and it's definitely worth it.

Bartending Classes...I had my first class today.  OMG the girls in my class are so hot!  Most of them have huge boobs.  One of the girls works at a place where she said on a good weekend night the bartenders can make in one night the cost of the class in tips (which was $400).

  • Summer's here!

Friday went to LACMA's free summer jazz concert and then checked out the Dan Flavin fluorescent light exhibit...pretty interesting.  Had dinner at Rosalind's in Little Ethiopia.  Afterwards we watched my Super Ex-Girlfriend.

Saturday celebrated a friend's birthday at the park...we had a BBQ, threw the football around, drank, and played cards.  Afterwards went to another friend's birthday at J Lounge in downtown.  Happy birthday Chan and Grace!

Sunday we stopped by the Warehouse Sale to try and find some discounted designer jeans but the lines were so long (one line to get in, another to try on clothes, and another line to pay) that we just gave up.  Then headed over to the Standard in downtown for a pool party but they were at capacity so we just ended up having lunch on the patio with some bellinis.  Decided to go shopping on Rodeo and ended up splurging on a new Gucci purse and wallet.  In my defense I have put off this purchase for over a year and I really needed a new purse.  I went with a slightly different style than the one I originally wanted but this one's got a little more room and I like it a lot better.

EDIT:  I just signed up for bartending classes!  It starts on July 9th and will be for two weeks Monday - Friday from 6-10pm.  The classes are with National Bartenders in Lakewood.  Let me know if you want to sign up too.  It'd be fun to take it with a friend.
