EDIT: I wish I could do more to help the Katrina hurricane victims besides just donating money...I can't even imagine what it must be like to be homeless, losing loved ones and all your possessions, not having food, water, electricity...all the things we take for granted. I'm disappointed in myself that I was even thinking about whether I'll still be able to go to Mardi Gras next year as planned and about how much gas prices will go up when there are people out there who are suffering so much.
Highlights from the weekend:
- Dodgers lost to the Astros 2-1 but at least I got to enjoy some hot dogs and nachos and doing the wave
- thai food at Mix Bowl Cafe in Pomona
- jambalaya and gumbo at Uncle Darrow's in Marina del Rey...voted best cajun/creole food by LA magazine
- went to Ivar...it was cool to randomly run into different groups of old friends
- played volleyball, relaxed in the sun, and then cooled off in the water at Manhattan Beach
- margaritas and fajitas at Cozymel's
- happy hour at El Torito...more margaritas and 1/2 priced appetizers
Yesterday, I went to a Metal Skool concert at the Key Club. This was my first time ever going to a heavy metal concert since I don't really listen to that type of music...definitely an interesting experience. It was cool getting the VIP treatment....free parking, no cover and no waiting in line, free drinks, hanging out in the VIP room, going backstage to the green room and meeting members of the band, getting introduced to the manager of the club, etc. The band is totally outrageous and their act is pretty hilarious...imagine a lot of cussing, girls flashing their boobs, guys making total asses out of themselves.
It seems like all I do is eat and drink and yet my alcohol tolerance is so low now

ugh.. i hate the dodgers!! i'm a norcal gal forever.
plus, LA sports fans... leave during the 7th inning...don't watch the game...talk smack just cuz...are rude and want to trashtalk cuz they aren't watching the game...they suck!!! =p - - - but that's just LA sports fans in general.. =p - - -

Cozymels is the general managers favorite place. He ALWAYS wants to go there. So last week I subetly suggested Mccormicks.. and Macaroni Grill today instead

jam packed weekend!....my tolerance has dropped considerably too..there was a time in my life where I could do 18 shots...now I can barely handle 1 or 2
i went to heavy metal last week. only one words come to mind.... vampires.
try drinking different brands. i'm shit when it comes to mixed vodka drinks and whiskey, but i can drink cognac, scotch, & beer like no other.

could it be "asian flush" (acetaldehydemia)? it reportedly affects 45% of chinese/japanese and 30% of koreans. not sure of the number for vietnamese.

i have a motorcycle ride in the morning... not sure how long we are going to take.... what are you doing on saturday? or we can go early evening on sunday... the only cool places i know that are not so rough are around my old place.... =( we can look up on the internet and try and find something.... Im sure there are tons of places around our areas... we'll see...
